See details at the bottom of this page on the use of the various instruments.

The instrument oil is applied to the hinges of nippers before autoclaving.

The cotton applicator has a rough end. Hold a fluff of cotton between your fingers and rotate the rough end of the applicator in the cotton and you have a narrow cotton clad applicator for cleaning out the cuticle area of an ingrown nail.

Neuropathy can be more reliably and consistently assessed with the Tip-Therm and Tuning Fork than with filaments.  The Tip-Therm assesses patient's sensitivity to a colder metallic object.  The tuning fork is tuned to a frequency that penetrates tissue deeper and by counting the seconds that a patient still feels the vibrations the deeper sensitivity can be assessed and progress of neuropathy over time can be charted.  The tuning fork comes with a striking block for consistent strength of vibration.  Podiatrists are quite often the first medical practitioners able to detect initial stages of neuropathy and with that often the onset of diabetes.  Patients benefit from an early diagnosis and the Podiatrist can formulate a treatment plan accordingly.
