Diamond

The most important quality factor is how well the diamond pieces adhere to the base of the bur head.  This manufacturer is very good at that.  All burs have a standard 3/32" stem diameter.  They fit standard podiatry drills. You can clean them with a wire brush, nail polish remover and rinse them clean before autoclaving.

Diatwister burs: expensive because they use large diamond pieces.  You should first try the sanding cap burs.  The Diatwister bur is hollow and has slits for air cooling.  The number ahead of the period  indicates the shape and the number after the period indicates the size.  The 4880 series is the coarsest diamond.   Fine diamond burs: various shapes. Great for smoothing nail after rough nail debridement.

Coarse diamond burs: various shapes.  Good on nail and callus. These burs come plain or grooved.  The CD burs have grooves that trap air for cooling.  They are a bit more aggressive than standard coarse burs.  First decide on the shape to give you a bur type number, then add CD and a diameter number.  e.g. CD2485.060   Favorites
